Ethical Generative AI & Data Science with MIT App Inventor at WeTeach_CS Texas 2026
Calling all Texas Grade 6–12 Educators — join the App Inventor Foundation for a 4-day professional development workshop to bring ethical generative AI, data science, and physical computing to your classroom! You will also receive a $700 stipend, 28 Texas CPE credit hours upon completion, and reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1000. No prior tech experience required!
This immersive workshop will prepare you to teach AI and data science through MIT App Inventor — a free, beginner-friendly platform that has enabled over 20M learners in 200 countries to invent over 120M apps. Dive into free, standards-based AI, data-science, and physical-computing curricula designed with a human-centered, ethics-first approach aligned to the UNESCO AI Competency Frameworks.
There are two workshop locations and dates:
Session 1: Monday, June 22–Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Waco, Texas
Session 2: Monday, June 29–Thursday, July 2, 2026 in DFW, Texas

Protecting Water – Use physical computing with micro:bit to investigate water quality and climate data

Travel expenses reimbursed for the duration of the workshop up to $1000.
Early access to the App Inventor Foundation’s EdHub classroom portal (beta)—a combined learning management system for assigning, tracking, and assessing student app projects, and an educator community space.

Eligibility: Texas educators teaching grades 6–12 (priority given to Title I schools)
Skill Level: No coding experience required — open to all levels
